Technically I Did Something
March twelfth. I went to the community center for yoga on Wednesday and stayed approximately four minutes longer than necessary. Not because anything interesting happened. Because I walked past the front desk on my way out and there was a little rack of folded brochures, spring session listings, I think, maybe activities, and I picked one up.
That's it. That's the whole thing. I picked up a brochure.
I didn't ask anyone about it. I didn't stand there reading it in the lobby. I folded it once more than it was already folded and put it in my bag and walked to my car. It is now sitting on the kitchen counter, near Gerald and the bowl, which I feel like says something about how I make decisions, I give objects a place to live before I've figured out what I'm going to do with them. The brochure gets the counter. The counter is where things go when I'm thinking.
The moment of taking it, not committing to anything, just looking.
I mentioned a few weeks ago, in the post about the commenter situation resolving itself, that I'd been thinking about signing up for something new here. And I have been thinking about it. I'm apparently just doing it in the form of a folded piece of paper sitting next to a plant. Which is, I'll say, more progress than the community college application that lived in my bag for approximately four months before I mailed it. So. Technically I did something.
It found its place on the counter before I'd made any decisions about it.
