The Looking Was the Visit

June twelfth. The draft-folder sentence has been there for almost three weeks now. It says: 'the framing shop, standing outside it, now apparently also inside it on a Thursday.' I wrote it the evening after Simone mentioned the printmaking open night, almost incidentally, the way she names things now without appending 'we should', and I have not opened the folder to finish the sentence since.

I did look it up once. The Thursday night details are exactly what you'd expect: a fee that cleared the paper number without drama, a description that used the word 'introductory' three times, a contact email that I did not send anything to. I read the page twice, closed the tab, and made dinner. The tab didn't fight me. That is its own kind of information.

Simone would probably name this before I do. She'd say something at Tuesday session, one sentence, end of the climb, and whatever she said would be more accurate than three weeks of draft-folder sitting. She has a gift for that. I'm still in the middle of the sitting, which is fine. The cord on the windowsill took two years between its first row and its second. The framing shop has been a place I've only stood outside of for longer than that. Some things earn their pace.

still deciding. or not.

The sentence is still in the draft folder. I don't think I'm going to finish it the way I thought I would when I wrote it. That's not the same as not going. It's not the same as going, either. It's the condition the sentence is in, and for now that's enough to write about.
